Crosses of Love

Crosses of Love are a Dutch tradition that was adopted by New Haven United Methodist Church in 1984. These wooden crosses are constructed, and then decorated by our New Haven members with ribbons, silk flowers, a touch of sweets, raisins, a religious bookmark and a history of the crosses.

In Holland, the crosses are decorated by family and friends on the Saturday before Palm Sunday, then they are delivered to hospitals, children’s homes and nursing homes. At New Haven, the crosses are blessed during Palm Sunday services and then distributed to various ministries and other recipients.

For more information about the Crosses of Love or if you would like to help decorating the crosses, please contact Jim and Susan Harris at 918-481-5967 or at [email protected]
