Bus Stop Breakfast Bunch
The parking lot of New Haven United Methodist Church serves as a school bus stop for many students from the neighborhood. Every school day, children from several different schools gather at the church to wait for their bus to school. One very cold morning, Paula Fox noticed the very cold students waiting for their buses and she was inspired to start an early morning hospitality program at the church. Each school day, Paula and other volunteers arrive early to the church to welcome the students in the doors to hang out and wait for their buses.
Every other year, New Haven UMC takes Sunday morning worship outside our doors to the local community, sending teams on mission service projects throughout the city. The entire church participates in this day of Mission, that includes over 125 people ministering in an average of 12 different locations. The impact on those we minister to is no greater than the blessing we receive!
4th of July Parade
Every year, around the 4th of July, New
Haven hosts a Independence Day parade and festival. The parade features children from all over the city who bring their bikes, trikes, scooters, wagons, and other vehicles, decorated for a parade through the neighborhood. After the parade, many families stick around and play on the water slide, enjoy refreshments, and socialize.
